Introduction

Cycle Queensland is the Queensland verion of the NSW Big Rides that I have done over the past two years. I did this event last year. I had orginally thought that I would only do CQ last year to use up some leave from work. I had such a good time that I decided that I had to come back this year.

This years ride was beetween Miriam Vale (north west of Bundaberg) to Kilkivan (North West of the Sunshine Coast), click here for a route map.

Conclusion

This year ABC Presenter Phil Smith was on the ride. He was doing interviews and daily reports for ABC Radio Queensland. Click Here to view the ABC Website including the interviews that Phil did.

Having completed my fourth ride in this format, all I can say is that they keep getting better. This year the camping didn't bother me in the slighest, which was a bit different to last year, I think I am just getting better at putting the tent up and down. I went into this ride very fit, and was able to enjoy the cycling a lot more. If you are going to do these rides, I think that it is best to ensure that you are riding within your abilities, being able to ride and party make them a lot more fun.

This was the third Cycle Queensland, I think that there was better organisation compared to last year. The Afternoon Tea stops, which I liked to stop at were up and running early in the morning when I was going through, all of the food was home made and very cheap. Most of the towns were a lot more prepared for us this year as well. I think that even after only three years, Cycle Queenland is getting a good reputation.

Next years ride looks like it is going to be skirting the NSW/Qld boarder, it is going from Goondiwindi to the Gold Coast. I have already decided that it is worthwhile doing.
